Planning a BVI Yacht Charter? Let Voyage Yacht Charters help plan your sailing itinerary

The British Virgin Islands are one of the most popular yachting destinations in the world. The ideal weather from December through May, influences most charterers to choose a sailing yacht for their versatility. Voyage Yacht Charters recently added their Caribbean Sailing fleet to eYachtCharter.com’s luxury yachting directory.

Voyage is one of the BVI’s leading charter brokers and has a fleet that will meet the most discerning sailor’s expectations. Because Voyage knows that each charter guest has their own personal desires, they will work with your skipper to accommodate most itinerary requests. This is just a sample to whet your appetite for an unforgettable BVI Yacht Charter.

DAY 1: Join your yacht at midday at Sopers Hole on the West End of Tortola: the original home of the pirates. Today, trading can be a little easier with a visit to the shops at Pussers Landing. After a light lunch and chat about the itinerary, a 2 hour sail takes you to Norman Island (Treasure Island). Snorkel at the caves and be amazed at how many fish there are in the crystal clear waters. The evening is spent in the Bight, with a visit to The William Thornton for an after dinner party - a wild floating bar where everybody lets their hair down and tells their seafaring tales of the day.............and how fast did you sail?

DAY 2: After breakfast you can hike to the top of Spy Glass hill, a known lookout point for the pirates, be sure to take your camera. Dive or snorkel the Indians or Rainbow Canyon and swim with the sea turtles. After lunch it’s a short tack up to Peter Island, famous for its romantic beaches. Take an early evening stroll along the beach before a casually elegant dinner aboard. After dinner go forward to the trampolines and count the shooting stars, making a wish on each one you see.

DAY 3: After breakfast a short sail to Salt Island to dive or snorkel the Rhone; this is one of the top five wreck dives in the world. Then motor round to Cooper Island for lunch and some spectacular snorkeling off Cistern point, a sheltered reef alive with juvenile fish of endless varieties. Alternatively, take a stroll on the beach, sit under a palm tree and just take in the beauty of the turquoise waters. A late afternoon sail takes us to Marina Cay for the evening, one of the smallest of the Virgin Islands.

DAY 4: A morning sail can take you to the Dog Islands for some colorful coral dives or you can visit the Baths on Virgin Gorda. These spectacular rock formations below and above water can be explored by land or sea and snorkeling here is a must. Lunch is just outside Spanish Town, so you can shop or take a taxi for an Island tour. Then a fast sail up the west side of Virgin Gorda one of the most beautiful of the Virgin Islands. In the evening, dance at the Bitter End Yacht Club to the local reggae band in the elegant settings that this resort offers.

DAY 5: Spend the morning enjoying the North Sound - truly one of the most outstanding natural harbors in the Caribbean. Enjoy good windsurfing, snorkeling, hiking and shopping here. Visit the four exclusive resorts and take on some shore duty. Or, sail to Anegada, the sunken land nestled within a horseshoe reef, the third largest barrier reef in the world. For the first half of this 2/3 hour sail there is no land visible, then the palm tree’s appear on the horizon warning of your imminent arrival. After lunch absorb the atmosphere of the anchorage at Setting Point. Informality and relaxation are the key elements of Anegada. Deserted beaches, fringed reefs and the unique flora and fauna of the salt ponds, home to the pink flamingo, await your exploration. Lobster dinner at the Anegada Reef Hotel is a must. As darkness falls, with cocktail in hand, you will see from the cockpit of the boat the driftwood fires on the beach grilling your lobster. The open air restaurant in and around the beach promises a dining experience only Anegada can offer.

DAY 6: An early start from Anegada ensures plenty of time to sail back to enjoy the snorkeling off Guana Island or dive Camanoe Island. Off the Eastern end of Tortola are several small secluded anchorage’s. If evening entertainment is your choice Trellis Bay is the home of the Last Resort, which offers a nightly comedy show based on yachts who come and visit the British Virgin Islands.

DAY 7: A leisurely downwind sail to Jost Van Dyke offers ample opportunity for stopping on the way. Cane Garden Bay, Sandy Spit and Green Cay are all places of exceptional beauty. Just take your pick. For the over night stop, White Bay is secluded and quiet with only the Soggy Dollar Bar ashore or Great Harbor is ideal for those who would like to visit the famous Foxy’s Tamarind Bar. Sample his Sly fox or Dread fox both made from Foxy’s firewater rum and listen to his calypso songs. Beware you’ll probably be in one!

DAY 8: The last morning! Choose your breakfast from a light selection of assorted breads and fresh tropical fruits, to champagne and eggs Benedict. A swim or snorkel before sailing back to West End for that last minute shopping before joining your homeward flight.

The Ultimate Bar Guide for a BVI Yacht Charter

What is a Caribbean Vacation without a few cocktails and some adventure? While cruising on a BVI Yacht Charter offers some of the finest luxuries any vacation can offer, it never hurts to go ashore for some mingling with locals and a little libation. Here is a list of some of some of the best beach bars in the British Virgin Islands. Land HO!!!

ANEGADA
If you're swimming at Loblolly Bay, base yourself close to The Big Bamboo. Great lunches and a large outdoor bar just steps from the beach. Anegada Reef Hotel, Restaurant and Bar is the closest bar to the dock. This friendly establishment is popular, has a casual atmosphere, and has the freshest lobster that is to die for! Neptune's Treasure is a serene restaurant and bar further down the beach. On weekends the bar becomes lively with music and an influx of Tortola residents looking for a weekend escape.

BEEF ISLAND
Trellis Bay - The Last Resort has been synonymous with live entertainment since the beginning of yacht chartering. Enjoy great food and live entertainment. On the south shore of the bay, there is quite an assortment of local shops, artist studios, bars and restaurants. The monthly Trellis Bay Full Moon party is anticipated all year long. Two large ‘fireballs’ are lit while locals dance the night away.

COOPER ISLAND
Cooper Island Beach Club is a popular restaurant and bar are on beautiful Manchioneel Beach. The island is an ideal anchorage spot to stop and have a drink while you watch the sun set over The Drake Channel.

JOST VAN DYKE
White Bay The Soggy Dollar Bar is famous for its ‘Painkillers’, which were actually first invented here. The original recipe is a secret family recipe. Great Harbor Foxy’s Tamarind Bar has certainly changed from the early 70’s.

Charter vacationers used to listen to true calypso while eating lobster with all of the locals at one long table. It has grown enormously. All kinds of talented local bands and musicians play here. The music and dancing can go on late into the night. Besides the bar and restaurant, there is also a large gift shop with a wide variety of local items, including CDs and the obligatory Foxy’s T-shirt. Be sure to bring something personal you can tack to the ceiling, anything from Business cards to hats and even underwear is acceptable. This place is for those who are easily offended , but most people at least stop in and have a drink.

Little Jost Van Dyke ‘Foxy's Taboo’ restaurant and bar is the new 'in' place. You are more likely to meet Foxy here than at his original bar. Moorings are available, but this can be a rough spot in unsettled weather.

MARINA CAY
Now owned by Pussers, this famous island resort has a bar at the very top of the island, offering great sunset views and live music some nights.
NORMAN ISLAND The infamous Willie T is an all out party destination with plenty of drinking and wild antics. Expect the unexpected. Not recommended for children or the faint hearted! Pirates Bight offers a more relaxed way to watch the sunset, but also has music, dancing and a very popular Happy Hour with every exotic frozen drink you can imagine.

TORTOLA
At Cane Garden Bay, Quito Rhymer is an extremely popular local musician who can be found performing at his bar/restaurant, ‘Quito’s Gazebo’. Further down the beach, Al Henley’s Big Banana Paradise Club, Rhymers Beach Bar, Stanley’s Welcome Bar and Myett’s Garden and Grill all offer meals, drinks and live music on selected nights that can be heard from your anchorage spot out onto the water.

‘The Pub’, below the Fort Burt Hotel, was the original bar in Road Town in The 60’s and 70’s and is a lively hot spot today. There are bars at Village Cay Marina, Mariner Inn, Pussers waterfront and many other locations in town, but these can hardly be considered beach bars, although many people visit them when embarking and disembarking from their Caribbean Yacht Charter.

VIRGIN GORDA
Spanish TownThe Bath and Turtle Pub often has live music and dancing.
The Baths Poor Man's Bar is the ultimate watering hole to relax after snorkeling.
North SoundLeverick Bay has a beach barbecue every Friday, with live music and entertainment.

The Sand Box is a casual bar and restaurant offering lunch and dinner. The Bitter End is a large resort with shops, water sport facilities, restaurant and an English pub, but they often also have live music and entertainment. Saba Rock is an excellent restaurant and bar located on a tiny island. Enjoy the popular 2-4-1 Happy Hour, while watching a fabulous sunset over The Sound.

West End/Sopers Hole
Pussers Landing & Company Store has two restaurants and a variety of shops, but it also has a popular bar. Here's a hint, when you order your first 'Pussers Pain Killer', ask for a card. After visiting three different Pussers bars (and having a painkiller at each) you will get a Pussers Triangle Pennant you can fly from your boat - or hang at home!

While most vacationers like to enjoy the comforts of their luxury yacht charter, a true Caribbean Yacht Charter isn’t complete until you stop for a cocktail at a few of the best spots in the British Virgin Islands. You never know what you'll see or who you willl meet, but you'll be sure to have some tales to tell at your own watering hole back home for years to come.

Trying to Find Your Dream Beach: Look No Further Than Tortola

If you are sitting at your desk looking at a computer wallpaper display of a white sandy beach with turquoise waters, it is probable that the paradise you are daydreaming about is located in the Caribbean. One remote location known for its beaches is Tortola Island.

Totorla is one of 60 British Virgin Islands located in the Caribbean. While the Caribbean is notorious for its exuberant culture and wild festivities, the beaches of Tortola offer the picture perfect setting to kick back and relax.

There are several forms of travel throughout the islands but no means of transportation does the island justice in comparison to traveling on a sailboat or motor yacht. One of the most appealing vacations is a private Caribbean Yacht Charter.

Although there are at least nine beaches located on this one island each one is truly unique. They come in all shapes and sizes, ideal for a variety of activities but all have one thing in common, crystal blue waters.

If you are looking for a prime anchorage spot to pull up a yacht and play with all of your toys then Cane Garden Bay is the place. It is located off of Tortola’s north shore and its location in the cove blocks most winds. This is a perfect place to go jet skiing, wind surfing, parasailing and snorkeling. It is also comfortable enough to anchor and stay the night.

Apple Bay Beach is an international hot spot for surfing. During the season surfers from around the world travel to this beach just to catch waves. For the sun worshiper, Elizabeth Island is one of Tortola’s widest beaches giving visitors plenty of room to layout or play volleyball and cricket in the sand with spectacular views of the British Virgin Islands.

Exploring aquamarine life along colorful reefs in turquoise waters is best at Smuggler’s Cove. One of the superlative spots for snorkeling, swimming and relaxing this beach is also one of the more challenging to get to. Off shore the terrain is similar to that of an African Safari but aboard a Luxury Yacht Charter you can be flapping your fins along the reef bank just 100’ from the Smuggler’s Cove shore.

The list of magnificent beaches continues with Long Bay Beach, Josiah’s Bay Beach Lambert Bay, Brewer’s Bay to Brandywine Bay. What other exotic destination has so many breathtaking beaches with a variety of vacation activities all on one island? Whether you are looking to bareboat a sail charter or board a crewed motor yacht, cruising Tortola Island in Caribbean is sure to bring you to the beach of your dreams.
